Cost of living: a nice surprise
A month ago, I left France to study computer science at BME (Budapest University of Technologyand Economics). The experience was far more enriching than I had expected. Here are my firstimpressions of the courses, university life and the city of Budapest.
Computer courses at BME: an exciting challenge
The courses at BME are very varied and of high quality. They cover subjects ranging fromprogramming and advanced algorithms to computer systems and artificial intelligence. One ofthe great advantages is that many of these courses are taught in English, which makes it easierfor international students like me to integrate.
The teaching approach is particularly hands-on. For example, in my programming classes, wehad to carry out projects in small groups. This is very different from the theoretical approachoften found in France, and it enabled me to better understand the concepts by applying themdirectly.
The teachers are not only competent, but also approachable. They are always ready to answerour questions and support us as we learn. In addition to theoretical courses, there are manypractical labs, where we can experiment with what we've learned in real time. It's a great way toacquire technical skills while being immersed in real-life projects.
Transport and Campus: Convenient and well-organized
BME campus is well equipped, with modern classrooms and high-performance computer labs.Group work areas are also very useful for discussing projects or revising. Budapest's transportsystem is also a great advantage. The tramway, metro and buses are very accessible andinexpensive, making getting around the city much easier. Compared to Paris, where transport isoften saturated and expensive, the simplicity of getting around in Budapest is a real comfort.
Conclusion: an enriching experience
I've been in Budapest for a month now, and I'm already won over by the experience. Studying atBME offers me not only an excellent IT training, but also an enriching international experience. Ifyou're thinking of going abroad for your studies, Budapest and BME are perfect choices for anunforgettable academic and personal experience.
