From France to Budapest: My (Slightly Chaotic) Arrival in Hungary by Mylord
This blog should’ve been the very first one, where I tell you how I got to Budapest… but hey, better late than never, right? So let’s rewind a bit.
On the day of my departure, everything started super early. I had to catch a train at dawn to make it to Charles de Gaulle airport on time. At first, things were going smoothly… until another train broke down on the way. That’s when the stress kicked in I really thought I was going to miss my flight. Luckily, I made it just in time, though it felt like I was running a marathon.
It was actually my first time at Charles de Gaulle, and honestly… that place is huge. I had a bit of trouble finding my terminal it’s like a maze. After wandering around for a while, I finally managed to check in and meet up with my classmate in the boarding area. From there, we boarded our flight to Munich for a quick layover.
Once in Munich, we had about an hour to wait before our next flight. We took a little walk around the airport, bought a few souvenirs (yes, I’m talking about those magnets you never know where to put), and grabbed some snacks to keep us going.
Then it was time to board our flight to Budapest. That’s when everything started to feel real: new city, new language, new life for the next few months. As soon as we landed, my classmate exchanged his euros for forints the local currency. That was our first real taste of what living in Hungary would be like.
We took a taxi service to go pick up the keys to our apartment. And from that point on… well, you already know the rest.
That first day was long, a bit stressful at times, but also exciting. It was the true beginning of the adventure. A mix of exhaustion, discovery, and relief once we were finally in Budapest. Looking back, it was a pretty memorable moment—and the starting point of an experience I’ll never forget.
