My Impressions and Activities in Budapest by Thomas

Article published on 3 of March by Thomas

I took the train to Budapest for ecological reasons! I traveled through Paris, Stuttgart, Salzburg, and finally arrived in Budapest. I reached the Hungarian capital three weeks ago, and I really liked the atmosphere of the city.

Exploring the City

During my first days, I walked around the city alone with my camera, taking pictures of the Parliament building. Budapest is a beautiful city, but it has a distinct yellow/orange hue. At night, the city feels completely different—the streetlights, illuminated monuments, and reflections in the Danube River create a stunning atmosphere.

Meeting My Flatmates

Another important part of my arrival was meeting my flatmates—we are actually nine people in the apartment! They have helped me a lot in discovering Budapest. We have already visited some great places together, and it’s been fantastic to share fun moments while getting used to life here. It’s also a great opportunity to step out of my comfort zone.

Széchenyi Thermal Bath

One of the best experiences so far was visiting a famous thermal bath in Budapest. I went to the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, one of the largest and most well-known in the city. It was amazing to relax in the hot water, especially since it was winter—but as soon as you step out, it gets very cold!

Trying Traditional Hungarian Food

To immerse myself in the local culture, I decided to try two traditional Hungarian dishes. First, I had Lángos, a fried dough typically topped with sour cream, cheese, or garlic. It was tasty but quite greasy. I also tried Chimney Cake, a sweet, cone-shaped pastry, which was delicious.

After Three Weeks in Budapest

Even though I’ve only been here for three weeks, I already love Budapest. The city is full of history, and its architecture is incredibly diverse—every building is different, with vibrant colors like green and blue, and unique features like interior corridors.
